Culture collection ILFE is a living collection of bacteria and fungi of the Institute of Lowland Forestry and Environment (ILFE). Most strains originate from ILFE research projects, but a few reference strains from other sources are also included. Strains deposited in ILFE are maintained with routine laboratory techniques. A set of "working" cultures is maintained at 4°C on agar slants, and as agar plugs in sterile distilled water. A set of “stock” cultures is maintained as agar plugs and cell suspension in glycerol at ultra-low temperatures to minimize genetic change and maximize longevity. The living cultures are available per request for research purposes.
